Margery Berti將M的信原封不動的轉給她的上層Raghu Raghavendra, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, 讓Raghu Raghavendra來處理

Bxxxx,
Please distribute this information among your lab mates etc. who may find it useful. It seems to have gotten the attention of senior staff and there's a legal liason (so they must mean business). There's some crazy shizzle going on here. How deep does it go? If you have any more recent info please let memknow. I'd like to see what comes up in discovery.
Peace,
Mxxx

Hi Mxxx,
This is Raghu Raghavendra, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
Thank you for your e-mail with this information. We are aware of some of the issues you mention and have taken action. Please ask any concerned students working with Prof. Peng to meet with me in OHE 200. If there is any pressure, intimidation, or threat from Prof. Peng, students should contact me or Prof. Mike Brennan immediately. Prof. Brennan is law professor and will help students on any perceived legal problems. I can be reached at (213) 821-0871 and by e-mail at raghu@usc.edu. Prof. Brennan can be reached at (213) 740-2527 and his e-mail is mbrennan@law.usc.edu.
Thanks,
Raghu

Assoc. Dean Berti,
I hope your recent trip to India was productive and enjoyable. I didn't hear from you while you were gone, but wanted to see if you had a response to the insurance issue.
In an unrelated issue, I have an ongoing discussion with many students from Dr. Peng's group concerning some unethical practices. In my personal conversations with students I learned the Dr. Peng only allows his students 1 pair of gloves per month to work with hazardous bio-materials. In my discussion I also learned that Dr. Peng had students choose between the money or tuition credits in their awards and had them write checks to his wife since most chose tuition. I have second hand information that there is a tape recording of one of these conversations by a former student, that Dr. Peng has had recent visits from counsel on campus, and that their has been a leak about these events to which he is blaming students from other research groups.
In any case I wanted to know if the administration is aware of these concerns and if any action has been taken. Many of the international students involved are worried about being sent back to their home countries and are apprehensive about talking. While I have no direct evidence of the check writing, I believe that I have enough student accounts about the glove issue that it warrants immediate action. Carrying infectious biological materials around in pockets puts all the students at risk and it would be very bad if Cal OSHA found out during a visit.
Do you have some time tomorrow afternoon to talk about these issues?
Thanks,
Mxxx
